English Country Dancing tomorrow

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 12, and Monday, May 16, there will be English Country Dancing from 7:30-10:00 p.m. at the elegant, historic Nineteenth Century Club in Oak Park, within blocks of the Oak Park train station and next to easy parking. This is the elegant dancing seen in movies like Pride and Prejudice and Emma. This fun evening of dance instruction to live music in a lovely ballroom is open to everyone--no experience, fancy clothes, or partner necessary. Admission is $8 adults/$4 under 18, which is a donation to their college scholarship fund. Art in the Park at the Elmhurst Art Museum Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 from 10:00am-5:00pm. If you go, get there early enough to try your hand at glazing a Raku pot for only $15. This activity runs from 10:00-3:00 p.m. (so pot has time to cool down before Fair closes). You pick out a pot, paint it with special metallic glaze, and watch it get fired in a garbage-can kiln right before your eyes. There are also free children’s activities until 3:00, as well as a really nice art fair.

Be sure to check out the booths of Christian artists Jerry Krider (Claywood Creations) and Shelly Lawler (In the Garden).

Elmhurst Museum Day, Sunday, May 15 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Free day in a nice little museum within easy reach. Try a hands-on activity of paper sculpture to construct your own miniature art gallery complete with paintings and sculptures.
